Chicago’s boutique fitness boom continues in Lakeview, with Australian-born fitness brand STRONG Pilates officially opening its first neighborhood studio in the Southport Corridor on June 6.
The new studio will be located at 3730 N. Southport Ave., adding another high-profile fitness concept to one of Chicago’s fastest-growing retail and wellness corridors. The opening marks STRONG Pilates’ continued U.S. expansion as the brand blends reformer Pilates with cardio-focused strength training in a low-impact, high-intensity format.
Unlike traditional Pilates studios, STRONG combines reformer-based resistance workouts with rowing and riding intervals designed to create a full-body workout experience. The company promotes its classes as “Pilates-inspired, cardio-infused” training aimed at building strength while remaining joint-friendly.
The arrival of STRONG Pilates adds to the increasingly competitive fitness landscape across Lakeview and the Southport Corridor, where boutique concepts continue to expand alongside established gyms and wellness brands. The area has seen significant growth in health, fitness, and lifestyle-focused retail over the past several years, helping transform Southport into one of Chicago’s most active neighborhood shopping districts.
The Lakeview location is expected to offer STRONG’s signature ROW, RIDE, and REFORM classes, with memberships and introductory packages already being promoted ahead of the opening.
With new restaurants, retail concepts, and fitness studios continuing to move into the corridor, the opening further reinforces Southport Avenue’s evolution into one of Chicago’s premier lifestyle destinations.
