Street game changer? #AmazonBooks #SouthportCorridor (at Mystic Celt)
Mystic Celt has been closed since the New Year, and Amazon.com’s brick and mortar bookstore is rumored to be coming to 3443 N. Southport Avenue. Amazon currently has a store in Seattle, and is opening other outlets soon in San Diego, California and Portland, Oregon. Rumors are swirling on New York’s Hudson Yards as well.
A description of what Amazon Books is from Amazon.com’s website:

A permit has been approved to demolish the interior of Mystic Celt. A very similar permit was issued for the new Billy Lawless restaurant before it was demolished to make way for a new restaurant, so time will tell if the building will be torn-down or just gutted and revamped for new retail tenants.
‘Tis the season on the Southport Corridor – all decked out in holiday lights. Here are some snapshots we took in early December, 2015.

From earlier this year, the owner of Mystic Celt had sold the building to L3 Capital, and it has been marketed for lease over the past several months. It has now been confirmed that Mystic\’s last day of business on Southport will be January 3, 2016. Look for new retail and/or food establishments coming over the next several months. The property is currently being marketed for up to three separate store-fronts.
