Luxury custom rug brand Ernesta is officially open on Chicago’s Southport Corridor, bringing its first Midwest showroom to 3530 N. Southport Avenue, in the former Claire’s space next to Anthropologie.
The opening comes just over two months after plans for the Southport location were first announced. The approximately 1,475-square-foot showroom marks Ernesta’s 11th location nationwide and continues the brand’s expansion into major design-focused markets across the country. Founded in 2022, Ernesta specializes in designer-quality rugs made specifically for a customer’s space. Unlike traditional rugs sold in a handful of standard dimensions, Ernesta offers to-the-inch sizing, allowing customers to create rugs tailored to a particular room or layout. The new Southport showroom gives Chicago shoppers the opportunity to see and feel Ernesta’s assortment of wool, natural-fiber and performance rugs in person. Customers can also explore more specialized options including stair runners, unusual corner configurations and rugs designed around architectural features such as fireplaces. The location is designed to serve both homeowners and Chicago’s interior design community. The showroom includes space for one-on-one design consultations as well as a dedicated lounge where designers can meet with clients and review samples and materials.

Ernesta’s arrival also adds another home and design-oriented retailer to a stretch of Southport Avenue that has continued attracting upscale national brands. The storefront at 3530 N.
