First Burger Boss, now Dojo Chicago – why can\’t businesses stay open at the corner of Belmont and Southport? Dojo Chicago has quietly existed Southport this past week. The windows are papered up and everything appears to be removed. What type of business can remain in this location?
Looks like not all chains make it on the Southport Corridor. After a grand opening celebration in 2014 including Oprah\’s Executive producer, Teavana Tea Bar on Southport closed its doors for good on Sunday. When we asked why they were closing, the folks in charge of removing all property said they had no clue. The Tea Bar concept was new for the company and only included 6 full tea bars in the country (including Southport). Did you frequent there often?
We have known that Justin’s has been for sale for quite some time. Newcastle Limited, a real-estate firm has purchased the building, and 4 Star Restaurant Group, parent company of Crosby’s Kitchen will be eventually taking over. No word on when Justin\’s will be vacating, but they are currently leasing back the space, much like Mystic Celt did with L3 Capital.
Just listed by Newcastle limited is the current space that Indira is in. In the listing, both floors are included for lease for up to 8,403 of square ft. retail including Newport Bar & Grill\’s space. Indira will be moving to 3337 N. Southport Avenue in March, 2016 as an FYI.
\”Flagship corner retail available on Southport Avenue.

We have heard the rumors for quite time now, and L3\’s building at 3430 N. Southport has suddenly appeared with Chipotle construction plans in the window (the top says St. Charles but the bottom looks identical to the gut rehab at the former Homemade Pizza Co. space). Would you welcome Chipotle on the Southport Corridor?
