A new concept blending indoor golf with a neighborhood club atmosphere is coming to Chicago’s Southport Corridor this fall.
Grandshire Golf Club is set to open at the corner of Southport and Lincoln, offering year-round indoor golf through a combination of public simulator bays and a members-only club designed to recreate the feel of a traditional country club without leaving the city.
The facility will feature five simulator bays equipped with ProTee launch monitor technology. Two “Muni” bays will be open to the public and available for online reservations, while three private bays will be reserved exclusively for members. Memberships will be intentionally limited.
Unlike many traditional country clubs, Grandshire’s founders say their vision centers on accessibility and community rather than exclusivity. The goal is to create a gathering place where golfers can improve their game year-round while building connections with neighbors through leagues, tournaments and watch parties for major sporting events.
The club plans to host member-guest tournaments, golf leagues, Masters viewing parties and Bears game gatherings, creating a social atmosphere that extends beyond the simulator bays.
“Welcome to your home course in the city,” the club says on its website.
Grandshire’s founders describe the challenges many Chicago golfers face, from lengthy drives to suburban courses and five-hour weekend rounds to the city’s long winters that interrupt the golf season. Their vision is to provide a convenient option where city residents can play more frequently without dedicating an entire day to the sport.
The design aims to combine the character of a century-old golf club with the charm of a classic Chicago neighborhood tavern, creating a space that feels rooted in the community rather than a corporate entertainment venue.
While memberships will provide unlimited access to the private club side, non-members will still be able to reserve the public simulator bays online without joining.
The facility will also operate as a BYOB establishment for guests 21 and older.
When it opens this fall, Grandshire Golf Club will operate daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. for public access, while the members-only portion of the club will be accessible 24 hours a day.
With indoor golf continuing to grow in popularity across Chicago, Grandshire is positioning itself as a neighborhood-focused alternative that combines modern simulator technology with the camaraderie traditionally associated with private golf clubs.
