Culver’s coming to 1111 W. Addison

The goal is to have the restaurant open by the start of the 2022 Chicago Cubs season

According to Chicago Business Journal, “A Culver’s franchisee said he is close to signing a long-term lease to open a new location near Wrigley Field.” Culver’s was originally supposed to set up shop at 3500 N. Clark street back in 2014, but the deal fell through.

The new space currently is home to Chase Bank, Movement Wrigleyville and Taco Bell Cantina.

“The 4,300-square-foot, ground-level restaurant will be located at 1111 W. Addison St., which is one from the home of the Chicago Cubs on Chicago’s North Side.

“I am in negotiations as we speak to sign a 15-year lease in Wrigleyville. Once signed it is my goal to be open by the time baseball season starts,” Baron Waller, a Culver’s franchisee, told the Chicago Business Journal. “This location will not have a drive-thru, but that’s OK because people attending the games are on foot anyway and I expect a lot of foot traffic from Wrigley Field.”

“I have to do a complete build out of the space, and I estimate it will cost $1.2 million, so the sooner I get this leased signed, the better,” said Waller.

This would be Waller’s seventh Illinois location with another restaurant slated to open in October on the city’s West Side near the Chicago Police Academy where he already signed a 15-year lease with the city of Chicago. He is planning to open another Culver’s next year in the South Shore neighborhood on the Southeast Side.”
