Long‑time UPS Store at 3501 N. Southport Avenue to Relocate After 20 Years

A familiar fixture on Southport, the UPS Store at 3501 N. Southport Ave is preparing to move. Its current location—1,250 sq ft on the northeast corner of Southport and Cornelia—is up for lease beginning October 15, 2025, according to the LoopNet listing.

Situated in the Southport Corridor—home to chains like J.Crew, Lululemon, Anthropologie, and Sephora—the space offers high foot traffic and convenient access to the Southport Brown Line CTA station. The listing, handled by Colliers and broker Hunter Cannon, offers flexible triple-net lease terms.

UPS Confirms Move, Not Closure

In a comment posted on June 10, UPS clarified the situation:

The UPS Store is NOT closing. We are relocating to 3302 N Lincoln in the fall of this year. Southport rent increase forced our hand. We absolutely loved being at this location for 20 years and are looking forward to a brand new store in another great location. We will continue to provide the same service our customers depend on. We thank our neighbors for 20 years of support and look forward to meeting our new neighbors. Thankfully it’s the same chamber of commerce.

What’s Ahead

  • Move-out date currently set this fall.
  • New location: 3302 N Lincoln Avenue, opening fall 2025.
  • Reason for relocation: Rent increase at the Southport site.
  • Service continuity: UPS reassures that all standard services—printing, shipping, mailbox rentals, notary services, and more—will continue without interruption at the new location

For the Southport Corridor Community

The move marks the end of a two-decade chapter for the Lakeview neighborhood, but it’s not a goodbye. The Southport space will soon welcome new tenants, likely fitting into the corridor’s mix of national retailers.

If you’ve visited the Southport UPS store for packing, printing, mailbox services, or just friendly local service, rest assured: the business isn’t disappearing. You’ll simply find them a few blocks west on Lincoln this fall.

  1. It’s actually the end of a 30[year Southport relationship. From Oct 2, 1995 to 2005 the UPS Store (formerly Mail Boxes Etc.) was located in the northern half of what is now Anthropolgie at 3540 N. Southport. It was rented from the owner of Home Carpet One, Leon Engel, whose warhouse occupied the southern half of the building. When we first proposed the location to the MBE regional managers, they rejected Southport claiming it was an unbusy warehouse district. We fought and won. And the store was a hit from the very beginning. BTW – our 1995 rent was $1200 a month! Kent Bartram (original owner 1995-2005)
