Ash Wednesday.
I came to love the ritual of mass when I studied abroad in college. Long, solemn services in Latin (which I do not know) or Italian (which I was just starting to get the hang of), cathedrals lit entirely by candles, surrounded by strangers whose families had sat in those exact pews for quite literally hundreds of years. There was this current to these Sunday mornings that made me feel at home in a place I had never been. I loved the Lenten season I spent in Italy and the one that overlapped with being baptized and confirmed in the Episcopal church several years later and I’m craving that same pull, that current of ritual in this season as well. Grateful to have started the preparation for resurrection around the corner from my house this morning. Across an ocean, around a corner, anywhere that pulls you home is sacred. (at St. Alphonsus)

Stay tuned for official dates and details. Stop in this Thursday or Saturday for your last two chances to flow with us here or shop throughout the weekend before things start looking a little bit different. That’s Amore Florist Owner to Retire, Business Looking to be Sold

After 26 years on Southport, the owners of That’s Amore Florist are retiring and the business / storefront is for sale.  The “Business For Sale” sign went up this week, and is yet another small business up for sale and could potentially leave the Southport Corridor.  That’s Amore Florist is located at 3454 N. Southport Avenue, next to Krista K.

Restaurant Rumor: Just Salad coming to the Southport Corridor?

Just Salad announced in early 2019 that it was opening four Chicago locations, two have which have already opened downtown. It looks like at least one more location could be in the heart of the Southport Corridor according to their tweet earlier this week.  Since retail space is scarce on Southport, the one logical option could be next to Potbelly where Paperchase was originally supposed to open.  Time will certainly tell, and we should know more as Spring progresses.  Would you welcome Just Salad to Southport?

Taco Bell Cantina Coming Back to Wrigleyville (Yes, same location)

Update: Now Confirmed.

After years of preparing for Taco Bell at 1111 W. Addison to close and be demolished for a new development, Taco Bell Cantina – the one that serves booze, is now rumored to be returning to the ground level along with Chase Bank (both are in lease negotiations at this time). The original restaurant was torn down this week, and development will soon begin for a 4-story complex including a proposed climbing gym on the upper floors (Chase and Taco Bell and another retail space would occupy the ground level).  As we hear more we will be sure to let you know. Live Mas!
