There is a “Notre Dame Day at Wrigley” for the Shamrock Series game against Wisconsin

On Friday, the Chicago Cubs announced that September 24 will be “Notre Dame Day at Wrigley.” That day is the Friday before the Notre Dame Fighting Irish take on the Wisconsin Badgers in a Shamrock Series game at Soldier Field. The first 2000 fans to buy a ticket for the Cubs game on the 24th against the St. Louis Cardinals will receive a special Notre Dame themed Cubs hat from New Era.

In a weird (and terrible) way, this reminds me of a 2017 Cubs game against the Atlanta Braves with all of the fans of the Georgia Bulldogs in attendance — who were ready to completely takeover Notre Dame Stadium the next day.

This particular Shamrock Series game is quite different than the usual one we get from Notre Dame. Wisconsin is actually the home team here, but the Badgers will wear special all white uniforms while the Irish will wear their “Chicago but actually Green Bay” uniforms that were unveiled a few weeks ago.

Saving Wrigley Field premiers Thursday, August 19

From The Chicago Cubs, a documentary around the massive rebuilding of Wrigley Field and the surrounding properties premiers this Thursday, August 19, 2021 on YouTube.

“Jake Arrieta was a “surly, selfish, science-denying tool” in requesting a reporter should take his mask off”

Vocal about not getting a vaccination, Jake lashed out at Bruce Levine of 670 The Score during the post-game presser on Wednesday night.

“It’s not hard, Bruce,” he said. “And I’d love you to take your mask off. I don’t think anybody’s around you.”

Kris Bryant makes it clear: the Chicago Cubs front office cannot be trusted

Just over a week ago, we watched three of the most beloved players in Chicago Cubs history packed up and shipped off at the MLB trade deadline – including former National League MVP Kris Bryant, who went to the San Francisco Giants in return for a pair of prospects.

In the days that followed, Cubs president of Jed Hoyer somehow thought it was a good idea to air his dirty laundry, accusing the trio of not actually wanting to stay in Chicago long-term, which prompted Anthony Rizzo to immediately offer his take on what transpired prior to his departure.

Cubs unveil plans for Wrigley Field DraftKings Addition

Cubs going before the Commission on Chicago Landmarks today with plans for a two-story addition to Wrigley Field, which would house the team’s sportsbook. First look at new renderings here:

The Chicago Cubs are seeking city approval to build a two-story addition to Wrigley Field that would house one of the first betting operations at a major U.S. pro sports venue, a move that comes as a City Council committee sits on a proposed ordinance to allow it.

The team is slated to go before the Commission on Chicago Landmarks today to present its plans for a 22,350-square-foot structure that would be developed along the southeast corner of the stadium at Sheffield Avenue and Addison Street, team plans show.

It’s a key step toward building the future DraftKings Sportsbook at Wrigley Field—part of a sponsorship deal the team struck last year with Boston-based DraftKings—and stands to make gambling an integral part of game day at the Friendly Confines.

From The Chicago Tribune, Chicago Cubs chairman Tom Ricketts issued his first extended comments since the organization dismantled its core at the trade deadline in an email to season ticket holders Monday morning.

Ricketts, who called this past week extremely hard on everyone, stated “while we believe the decisions we took were right for our organization, they were nonetheless difficult to make.” He commended Anthony Rizzo, Kris Bryant and Javier Báez for the joy they brought to fans and as ambassadors to the franchise and city as well as their successes that included awards, franchise records and a World Series title.

“Their individual and collective contributions to our organization cannot be overstated. They are forever etched in Cubs history and the hearts of our fans.”

Ricketts said the last few weeks made it clear the direction the franchise was heading, prompting decisions be made with a focus on the future and not the past.
