Harold’s Chicken Shack coming to Irving and Southport

First reported today in Eater Chicago, signs are up at a new outpost of iconic Chicago chain Harold’s Chicken in a strip mall just west of Irving Park Road and Southport Avenue. The space, formerly a dry cleaners, is across the street from the Chicago City Soccer Club and blocks from Graceland Cemetery.

Southport & Irving (SIP) space for lease

Southport & Irving, better known as SIP is currently for lease. According to the marketing description:

“Southport Corridor Corner Restaurant and Bar. Fully built-out restaurant space with outdoor component. Corner location. “One of West Lakeview’s more popular restaurants is available for lease. A Craigslist ad is up for Southport & Irving, also known as SIP, priced at $8,000 per month. Management hasn’t responded to an inquiry by press time so there’s no word yet whether the restaurant at 4000 N. Southport Avenue might close or just change ownership. Stay tuned.”

Labor Day Weekend at Southport & Irving (SIP)

In celebration of Labor Day, Southport & Irving (SIP) augments the regular specials with $6 classic cocktails August 29-31, adds free live music on Friday, August 29 from 8-10 p.m., and opens early on Monday, September 1, offering a la carte brunch service and drink deals from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. (closed for dinner service). 

The Labor Day brunch menu includes selections such as eggs Sardou, green chile chilaquiles and tomato-braised brisket hash. In lieu of the regular Monday specials, SIP offers a $6 roasted poblano michelada, a $7 blueberry mimosa and a $9 roasted red pepper and corn bloody mary on Labor Day.

FEW Spirits Cocktail Night at Southport & Irving (SIP) Saturday, July 26

Meet FEW’s master distiller/owner Paul Hletko, sample craft spirits and enjoy handcrafted cocktails from guest master mixologist Ergys Dizdari Southport & Irving (SIP) welcomes Evanston-based FEW Spirits for a special cocktail night on Saturday, July 26 from 7-9 p.m. The event features a meet and greet with master distiller/owner Paul Hletko, education and tasting notes from brand ambassador Alison Mouratis, samples of FEW’s handcrafted spirits, plus raffles and giveaways including distillery tours, FEW monogrammed merchandise and wearables. Celebrate Chicago’s Artist Month at Southport & Irving on October 9

  • In celebration of Chicago Artist Month, the women’s caucus is doing an art show at Southport and Irving.

    Opening reception is at SIP lounge with two special cocktails, the Artessmia and the Frida Kahlo.


    The event will be on Wednesday, October 9 from 6:30 to 8:00 PM.

    Dinner special is $10.00 and includes a half pound heritage burger, fries and a draft beer!
