Work to finally resume at 3347-49 N. Southport Avenue

After years of sitting vacant and then just being a hole in the ground, work will finally start on Southport’s latest Transit Oriented Development at 3347-49 N. Southport Avenue.

From YIMBY, “A foundation permit has been issued for a five-story mixed-use building planned for 3347 N Southport Avenue in Lake View. Filed under the name 3347 Southport LLC, the 22,846-square-foot project will feature 27 total units, as well as first-floor retail, a basement, and a four-vehicle garage with a rooftop deck. There will also be a bike room with 28 available slots. The structure will replace a three-story masonry mixed-use building that has since been demolished.

LeVaughn Associates Architects is the architect of record. Though renderings have not been released, an elevation from the 44th Ward website shows a masonry facade with stone along the first floor and brick on the remaining floors.

Within a five-minute walk, residents will find bus service for Route 152 to the north, Route 77 to the south, and Route 9 to the west. Meanwhile, Brown Line service is readily available via Southport station less than a block north.

Surf Development Corporation is the general contractor for the $350,000 project, whose timeline is not yet known.”
