A new LGBTQ-friendly hotel featuring a rooftop bar and speakeasy has been proposed for the site of the former Yoshi’s Cafe in Lakeview, Chicago. The project aims to create a welcoming space for the LGBTQ+ community while revitalizing the landmark location at 3257 N. Halsted St.
Developers envision a boutique-style hotel with approximately 51 rooms, offering amenities that celebrate inclusivity and community. The plans include a rooftop bar with panoramic views and a stylish speakeasy to serve as vibrant gathering spots for both locals and visitors.

This proposal reflects ongoing efforts to enhance Lakeview’s legacy as a hub for LGBTQ+ culture, providing a modern twist to the area’s storied history. The hotel’s design will blend contemporary elements with nods to the neighborhood’s character, and if approved, it is expected to contribute to the cultural and economic vitality of the area.

This was presented to The Heart of Lakeview Community Group and approval was given to move forward.
