Colectivo Coffee Southport Corridor Delayed to Late 2025

Colectivo Coffee’s highly anticipated arrival in Lakeview’s Southport Corridor is taking longer than expected, but the Milwaukee-based coffee roaster remains on track to open later this year.

Originally set for an early 2025 debut, the café at 3258 N. Southport Ave. has faced construction delays, pushing its opening to late summer or early fall, according to Colectivo’s marketing director, Marissa Worzella.

The Southport location will be Colectivo’s seventh in the Chicago area, serving its signature coffee, espresso drinks, and scratch-made food. The company first announced plans for both its Southport and Ravenswood locations in early 2024. The Ravenswood café, located at the Raven Residences, opened in December.

Spanning 2,100 square feet, the Southport café will accommodate 40 guests indoors and 30 outdoors, featuring a design that blends into the neighborhood’s lively commercial strip. It will take over the former Schoolyard Tavern space, which closed in 2020.

“We are honored and thrilled to serve two amazing new neighborhoods,” said Scott Isabella, Colectivo Coffee’s president to Block Club. “These new cafes will uphold our commitment to being community gathering spaces.”

Founded in Milwaukee in 1993, Colectivo operates 15 cafes in Wisconsin. It entered the Chicago market in 2017 and has since expanded to Wicker Park, Logan Square, Lincoln Park, Andersonville, and suburban Evanston.
