Following years of vacancy, demolition, and a prolonged period of inactivity due to the Covid pandemic, permits have once more been granted for the commencement of construction at 3347 N. Southport Avenue. This marks the beginning of a new chapter for a five-story Transit-Oriented Development (TOD).
From Ald. Bennett’s office, the permit was submitted this past summer, and construction should resume in Q1 2026.

The development is set to offer 27 residential units alongside ground-floor commercial space (look for national retail to come). Noteworthy features include cantilevered balconies, two private garages, and an elevator for convenience. This marks the third permit issued, following foundation and demolition permits. Surf Development Corporation, in collaboration with masonry contractors General Masonry LLC and MC Handsworth Inc, will oversee construction.
Once finished, 3347 North Southport Avenue will be conveniently situated near the Southport CTA Station, providing easy access to the Brown Line.
