Lovesac Leases Former Aligned Modern Health Space at 3514 N. Southport Avenue

National retailer Lovesac has signed a lease at 3514 N. Southport Avenue, occupying the former Aligned Modern Health storefront in Chicago’s Southport Corridor. The deal adds another recognizable national brand to the increasingly competitive North Side retail strip.

The approximately street-level space sits along one of Southport’s most active retail blocks, surrounded by a mix of apparel, home, wellness, food, and service-oriented tenants. Lovesac’s showroom model—focused on experiential retail and product demonstrations—aligns well with the corridor’s pedestrian traffic and affluent residential base.

Lovesac, best known for its modular “Sactionals” and oversized “Sacs,” has continued to expand its brick-and-mortar footprint nationwide as digitally native and omnichannel brands place renewed emphasis on physical retail. Southport’s demographics, density, and walkability make it particularly attractive for this type of showroom-driven concept.

The lease further underscores a broader trend: national and regional chain retailers are actively targeting Southport Avenue, competing for well-located spaces as vacancy remains limited. Over the past several years, the corridor has increasingly drawn brands seeking neighborhood-scale footprints rather than traditional mall locations—favoring visibility, consistent foot traffic, and proximity to high-income households.

Formerly occupied by Aligned Modern Health, the space is expected to undergo a modest build-out typical of Lovesac’s showroom format. While an official opening date has not yet been announced, the transaction reflects continued confidence in Southport Avenue as a stable and desirable retail corridor amid a shifting urban retail landscape.
