Southport Art Fest – Saturday July 13 – Sunday July 14, 2019

It’s time again for Southport Arts Festival at Waveland and Southport Avenues, this upcoming weekend, July 13 – July 14.

From StarEvents:

Chicago’s iconic Southport Corridor blooms to life next summer when  Southport Art Fest takes over Waveland and Southport in July of 2019. Featured in TimeOut Chicago as one of the “Best Festivals in Town,” the event will feature an assorted mix of fine art, setting the environment for a picture-perfect Chicago neighborhood street festival.
Festival fans will visit the beautiful tree-lined streets of the picturesque neighborhood. Just steps away from the friendly margins of Wrigley Field, the two-day festival will showcase some of the city’s best and most diverse artists. Southport Art Fest will put numerous art forms including oil, acrylic, watercolor, jewelry, sculpture, photography, wood, fiber, glass, paper, metal, and mixed media at center stage all weekend long.
Families will have the opportunity to bring their children, and enjoy all that Southport Art Fest has to offer. A special Kid’s area has been designed with interactive games and activities that will make for an unforgettable time.
Southport Art Fest benefits the Southport Neighbors Association. Since 1988, Southport Neighbors Association (SNA) has represented the residents and businesses of the unique and energetic neighborhood, in the heart of Lakeview. Admission is free.
Southport Art Fest is produced and managed by StarEvents.

What retail would you like to see at 3200 N. Southport Avenue?

As you can plainly see if you\’re at Belmont and Southport, a TOD development is being built at 3200 N. Southport Avenue. Below is the marketing brochure for the retail portion. What is missing in this area that you would like to see?

Rise Sushi and Galleria Liquors officially closed; demolition starting

Rise Sushi and Galleria Liquors are now officially closed, and interior demolition has started for an upcoming TOD development. The TOD building was announced all the way back in 2014, and while Galleria Liquors is slated to return to this site, Rise Sushi is not. Rise\’s sister restaurant, Shine at the corner of Webster and Halsted in Lincoln Park will remain, so if you can\’t live without Rise Spicy Tuna Rolls, Shine is a great option with virtually the same menu. Expect construction take about about a year and a half for completion of this new TOD development.

TBT – Wrigley Field’s Yum Yum Donuts

From Etsy:

Yum Yum Donuts used to sit in the shadow of Chicago\’s historic Wrigley Field! Always chock-full of regulars, Yum Yum Donuts was loved and is missed. Taken some time during the 1990s, I was fortunate enough to capture Yum Yum\’s own history! Super classic, too, as was taken with old-fashioned black and white film 35mm film!

And how much this area has changed:
