Late yesterday afternoon was my first time attending a screening of “It’s A Wonderful Life” at one of these showings at The Music Box, a beautifully restored movie house originally built in 1929. I told a friend about this a couple weeks ago and he said “Let’s do it!”. So glad we went. A lot of the crowd dressed in Xmas wear, many brought sleigh bells (which they’d shake at every mention of the words “Angel” or “wings”, or hiss every time Mr. Potter (Lionel Barrymore) appeared on screen. Their organist played before the showing with Santa in the House to lead Christmas carols too. Friends and family know I’m not much of a Christmas person in the wider sense, but this was a ton of fun. Plus I love the film, and those last ten minutes always leave me wiping my eyes.
