  1. Panera Bread and Vitamin Shoppe?? If this is good news to you, your type does not belong in Chicago – please move back to the suburbs or Michigan. Less and less independent shops in the city, crappy franchises and strip malls everywhere. Get some originality.

  2. I'm a city dweller with a family and no intentions of moving to the suburbs. I can say without shame that we love Panera and go at least once a week to Lincoln Park for Panera. I'm thrilled about this news – we can now walk to this location and keep more dollars in my home neighborhood. I'm not sure why there is such opposition to all big business. Panera is a very giving company that does good things in their communities. A small independent business was highly unlikely to occupy that space. That lot has been vacant for a very long time and now it will hold tax-paying businesses. I love small businesses and we make a point to support as many as we can in our neighborhood. However, large businesses also provide more stability – it requires a mix. This idea that a city needs to be full of independent businesses only is not realistic and this city family is excited about this development.

  3. I LOVE Panera Bread and think this would be a great addition to the neighborhood. Also, we should welcome just about anything in that space. It has been sitting empty for so long and has become such an eye sore in a great location. Happy to see the space getting new life!

  4. It had better not be a Panera Cares. The Clark/Diversey location attracts the wrong clientele. We don't need any more rifraf.

  5. Panera is a heck of an improvement over a vacant lot. Welcome to the neighborhood. I agree that it better not be a Panera Cares. Good idea, horrible execution. The Clark/Diversey one is awful.Vitamin Shoppe? Seriously? How does that place stay in business??
