Confirmed: Amazon Books is coming to Chicago’s Southport Corridor

DNA Info Chicago has confirmed that Amazon Books is indeed coming to the Southport Corridor after we broke the news to you first from our blog post yesterday:

“Amazon will open a brick-and-mortar bookstore on the Southport Corridor next year. The online megastore confirmed that it will open an Amazon Books location on Southport Avenue in 2017, two years after its first physical store opened in Seattle.”

Mint Julep closing in Chicago’s Southport Corridor [Update: Now Closed]

Mint Julep announced that they are closing their doors on Southport at the end of the year via Facebook today. We wish Sarah the best of luck and are sad to see them leave Southport.

B. Rose Salon closes on Southport, joins the Colour Room on Lincoln Avenue

B. Rose Salon has left its Southport location at 3341 N. Southport, and has joined the Colour Room Salon at 3517 N. Lincoln Avenue. All the B. Rose Salon signs are down today, and the website states We Are Moving! As you may recall, Indira Salon is moving directly next to their existing location shortly.

Indira moving, Newport Bar & Grill Closing, Capital One Cafe with Peet’s Coffee Coming

We have known that 3435 N. Southport (the building that currently is home to Indira Salon and Newport Bar & Grill) has been marketed for flagship retail for quite some time. Indira is moving to 3337 N. Southport which is currently being renovated, and Newport Bar & Grill is scheduled to close July 17.

Capital One Cafe with a Peet’s Coffee has been rumored to be coming to Southport, and will be moving into the space in the first and second floors.
