Finally ready for SoulCycle?  Opening date is set Saturday, January 30, 2016 beginning with an 8:30 AM class at 3423 N. Southport Avenue in Chicago.

2016 Water Main Project on Southport

Southport Water Main Project
Project: City of Chicago Department of Water Management and Joel Kennedy Construction Corp. crews will be installing approximately 2,830 feet of new 8-inch water main in N. Southport, from W. Addison to W. Belmont.
Reason: The old water main dates back to 1892 and needs to be replaced.
Timing: Crews will begin installing the new water main early-February 2016, and expect the project to be completed in mid-March 2016.  Final restoration will follow the completion of the water main installation. Dates may change depending on weather and other factors. If you would like to receive regular email updates about the progress of the project, please go to http://buildinganewchicago.org/ to register for the WaterALERT program. Lush Cosmetics coming to 3430 N. Southport Avenue

As we reported in December, Lush Cosmetics is coming to Chicago\’s Southport Corridor, and the confirmed location is 3430 N. Southport Avenue (the former Homemade Pizza Company building, owned by L3 Capital).  The space has been marketed by Cushman & Wakefield since 2014, and lease negotiations finalized towards the end of 2015.  The build-out and reconstruction should be starting shortly.

Do you remember Southport Department Store?

Located where Deleece/Grassroots and Mercury Theater are today was the Southport Department Store.  This picture was taken in 1991 when the store closed it’s doors for good.  Do you remember this place?
