Southport Lanes is for lease according to this listing from Mid-America Commercial Real Estate. The bar and bowling ally has been closed since the Covid-19 shutdown since mid-March, 2020 and has not reopened since Phase 3 began.
UPDATE 7/8/20: Southport Lanes says they will reopening “soon”!The landlord is exploring options as they try to renegotiate the lease. SL’s sense is that they will be there for a long while 🙏
“We are planning to re-open next weekend. We will decide on Monday. We are trying to get staff members to commit to working which is not an easy task.”
Let’s hope this Southport staple stays around for years to come.

New Year’s Eve 2019 was Grassroots Grill’s last night at 3747 N. Southport Avenue. The restaurant’s management sent out an email on Sunday stating that New Year’s Eve’s will be the spot’s last service. Grassroots opened with a farm-to-table focus in 2015. The restaurant has been for sale since the summer.
Sad news for Diag & 404 Wine Bar lovers. Both establishments will be closing their doors on August 4, 2019 according to their Facebook post. We wish all the staff and owners the best of luck, and will miss these Southport staples.

Sad news! Que Syrah will be closing March 15th 😢. “Greetings All.
We are writing to inform you that we shall be closing Que Syrah Fine Wines on March 15th. Angela and I, and the dogs, have decided to move to Arizona to be closer to family.
It was our sincere mission to offer excellent customer service and great wines to our customers and we hope we were successful in our efforts. It has been a pleasure and honor working on Southport for the past 15 years. We will miss you all very much all the dogs, kids, and parents, everyone.
