Amazon Books Southport Corridor Chicago opening Mid-March

Amazon Books is getting closer and closer each day for their grand opening. Work is happening around the clock with windows up, shelves being put in along with general set-up work. We’ve been told by Amazon that they should be open around March 14. Amazon will also have a Stumptown Coffee Roasters included in their new space.

Southport and Wellington Redevelopment Plan from February, 2017

Plans for the Lincoln/Southport/Wellington redevelopment have come to light, and the renderings below were presented to the South Lakeview Neighbors association. Neighbors voted against this development per DNA Info Chicago 33-7.

“We were all under the impression we knew what it was going to be, and now you’re saying, ‘Well, we’re not doing that,” said Amy Rosenwasser, a member of the group’s board. “That building has sat there, basically an eyesore, for some time, so why can’t you do what you started?”
