The Butcher’s Tap is now open, and here is a look at their new menu
The Butcher’s Tap is now open, and here is a look at their new menu. Think it will do better on Southport then Messner’s/WheelHouse Wrigley did?
“The new bar is now open and called The Butcher’s Tap, a nod to the butcher shop that opened in 1932 at the same location at 3553 N. Southport Ave. Ownership said they’ve completed 95 percent of the interior renovation which is expected to be complete in early December. Workers gutted the Wheel House space, which opened in 2012 after replacing Messner’s Bar and Grill. Ownership lauded changes including rolling glass garage door windows and a new audio and video system and 25 televisions.”
More information on The Butcher’s Tap can be read here from Eater Chicago.
Corridor Brewery and Provisions coming to 3446 N. Southport Avenue
We now know what is going next to Lou & Grey at 3446 N. Southport, an L3 new development. Corridor Brewery and Provisions, a brewery and restaurant from Dryhop Brewers will be taking over the new space. Look for a summer 2015 opening on the ‘Port!
From The Chicago Tribune:
“While DryHop can be loosely defined as a gastropub with hop-focused beers (think: decadent cheeseburger alongside an India pale ale), Shuff described Corridor as “an American farmhouse craft brewery.” That means sandwiches and flatbreads fired in a clay hearth oven paired with Belgian-inspired beer that feature contemporary American twists.
A provisional beer list included Melon Basil Biere de Garde (“pureed cantaloupe and honeydew melon boost this take on the French celebration ale”), Dry Hopped Kettle Sour, (“house lacto wort is blended with Belgian Pale wort to create this tart citrus kettle sour”), Belgian Chocolate Stout (“American stout with Belgian chocolate and French pressed coffee”) and Lemongrass and Ginger Saison (“Thai and Vietnamese flavors add to the classic Belgian farmhouse ale”). DryHop head brewer Brant Dubovick will have the same role at Corridor.”
Specs on the new space include the following:
- 3,000 square feet
- 18-ft. bow truss ceilings
- Stacked fermenters and brite tanks
- 90 seats
- Open air storefront
- Post-opening plan will be to open a patio with about 25 additional seats
