Paperchase Southport Corridor now under construction

It was announced early in 2017 that Paperchase, a UK based upscale stationery store would be coming to Chicago on Southport and the West Loop.  7 months later, Paperchase is now under construction and coming to 3420 N. Southport Avenue, the former Einstein Bagels shop.

Southport Corridor Changes into 2018

Whether you are new to the area or a long-time resident, one thing is for certain: nothing is permanent except change. So if you can’t keep up with all of the changes happening to Chicago’s Southport Corridor, don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.
Here is a summary of what to expect into 2018:
  1. Ivivva by Lululemon is closing. Space currently for lease
  2. Rise Sushi and Galleria Liquors will be replaced by this Transit Oriented Development (TOD)
  3. Taco Bell and an auto body shop on Addison by Wrigley Field will be replaced by new developments
  4. 1035 W. Addison to be redeveloped
  5. The former Blue Bayou space is for lease
  6. Schuba\’s Tied House to open in early 2018
  7. Paperchase is coming to Southport Avenue
  8. Leahy and Ladue is closed, 312 Estates Real Estate Office is coming
  9. Capital One Cafe with Peet\’s Coffee will open in the fall 2017 at 3435 N. Southport
  10. Venus Restaurant is coming from The Mercury Theater in Cullen\’s former space
  11. Mint Julep is now closed, national retail coming in
  12. A new mixed-use TOD development is coming to 3334 N. Southport Avenue
  13. Basics Salon at 3542 N. Southport is currently for lease or for redevelopment in 2019-2020
  14. Target is moving into the former Whole Foods space on Ashland in October
  15. Large-scale mixed-use development coming to 1356 W. Wellington Avenue with an American Mattress store (stalled)
  16. Addison & Clark development is underway; Shake Shack, Cinemex Movie Theater, Harley Davidson and Lucky Strike will be anchor tenants
  17. Hotel Zachery with Big Star Chicago, McDonald\’s and several other restaurants coming to Wrigleyville
  18. Cafe Tola is expanding into the Sweet Sensations former space
  19. Bow Truss Coffee Roasters was coming to Southport & Belmont (But who knows what will happen now)
  20. F.I.S.H. Poke Bar, Milk Money, Blue Crown Wings, Mac Royale and Melt 35 delivery/pickup only kitchen have all closed at 3208-10 N. Southport
  21. LuluBelles Pancake House building was demolished and new retail/residences have been built; blo dry bar coming in
  22. FlatTop Grill former space is for lease

Revised TOD Renderings for 3647 N. Southport Avenue

You may recall that a new Transit Oriented Development (TOD) has been proposed for 3647 N. Southport Avenue next to CVS. The original renderings have now been revised and listed here on Tom Tunney’s website. Currently, the development is “in discussion”.

Taco Bell Wrigleyville to be demolished, Auto Body Shop & Ticket Resale Shop to Shutter

It’s a sad day for Chalupa fans. Wrigleyville’s Taco Bell will be shutting its doors to make way for a new development. Also on the chopping block is Luis Auto Repair and Box Office Tickets across from Wrigley Field in the middle of the Addison & Clark development.

Capital One Cafe Permits for signs get approved; Opening in the Fall

Capital One Cafe with Peet\’s Coffee is coming to 3435 N. Southport Avenue, and permits for signs to be installed have been approved this week.
The Cafe will be approximately 7,500 sq. feet, will offer 3 nooks and 2 meeting rooms for customers, neighborhood and community members/partners to utilize should they need a work or meeting space. The Southport Café is slated to open in a few short months.
