Retail Rumors: Is J. Crew Finally Coming to Southport?

Update the week of January 26: J. Crew is signing their lease this week.

After years of rumors it is almost all but confirmed that J. Crew is coming to 3423-25 N. Southport Avenue. Construction should start in early 2015 and should take about a year to complete the new construction space.

J. Crew was originally speculated to open in the now EVEREVE location, but the storefront was not large enough for a typical J. Crew store. It has been reported that they have been looking at Southport \”for years\”. A formal announcement should happen by the end of the year.

Now onto that West Elm Market rumor that’s been circulating for quite some time now!?!?

Construction Progress: Ann Taylor’s Lou & Grey and Corridor Brewery

Construction is coming along at 3442 N. Southport (Lou & Grey) and 3446 N. Southport (Corridor Brewery. Looks like both businesses have about the same footprint with a distinct look and feel.

Fleet Feet Southport is getting ready to make it’s debut

Construction is coming along and we’re anticipating a fall/early winter opening for Fleet Feet Southport.

Here is the latest photo of the construction process.

RETAIL RETAIL RETAIL! L3 constructing several more retail buildings on Southport

First up, we have the former Homemade Pizza Co. building coming down next to Teavana making way for a two-story retail development.

Up next, we have a new construction building coming in that replaces Cerato Boutique and Suvana Chiropractor next to Crosby’s Kitchen.

Both are L3 properties, and they continue to bring high-end retail into the area. Each building seems to have 6000-8000 square feet of space available.

This is what Fleet Feet Southport Will Look Like

Recently it was announced that Fleet Feet Chicago was coming to the former Starbucks location at 3359 N. Southport Avenue. The space is currently under construction, and this is a rendering of what the building will look like once the addition is complete. Ivivva by Lululemon will expand to 1000 sq. ft. on Roscoe.

Could a mixed use development be coming back to Ashland, Belmont and Lincoln?

We know that Target is out at Belmont, Ashland and Lincoln and according to Crain’s Chicago Business this morning, Novak Construction Co. plans to purchase the site. Could something similar to the “Lakeview Collection” be back on the table?

The Roundup: What’s Coming to Chicago’s Southport Corridor

The ‘Port is rapidly changing once again. Here is the round-up of what we know coming into Southport over the next several months:

The Red Balloon Company Children’s Store is coming to 3651 N. Southport Avenue, and should be opening by the end of the year.
Fleet Feet Chicago is coming to 3359 N. Southport Avenue, and is opening this fall or early winter.
Lou & Grey by Ann Taylor is coming to 3442 N. Southport Avenue – opening is TBD.
Coalfire Pizza is coming to 3707 N. Southport Avenue, and is opening this fall.
Froyo Chicago is coming to 3746 N. Southport Avenue, and is opening this fall.
Ivivva by Lululemon expanding to 1000 sq. ft. in its current location at Roscoe and Southport. This will most likely occur by late fall or early winter when Fleet Feet opens.
Coobah closing and the former Candyality and Coobah buildings will be torn down for this mixed use retail development. Coobah closes on August 17 and the Lakeview Chamber is leasing out Candyality through August. Timing for redevelopment is currently unknown, but we wouldn’t be surprised if construction starts this fall.
