3150 N. Southport & 3200 N. Southport developments will forever change the southern area of the Southport Corridor

Spring 2019 construction is in full bloom, and two developments are starting to show their skin at the corners of Belmont and Southport. 3150 N. Southport is quickly becoming a 4-story luxury condominium complex with Byline Bank as a first-floor tenant. 3200 N. Southport is an apartment transit oriented development (TOD) with 5 floors and ground level retail (yet announced).  Both buildings, along with the new Tied House from Schubas will greatly enhance the southern area of Chicago’s Southport Corridor, which runs all the way north to Irving Park Road. What do you think of the changes?

Rise Sushi closing July 7

It\’s last call for Sushi at the corner of Roscoe and Southport, as Rise Sushi will be closing for good on July 7, 2019.  Rise\’s building, along with Galleria Liquors will be demolished making way for an upcoming TOD development. The TOD building was announced all the way back in 2014, and while Galleria Liquors is slated to return to this site, Rise Sushi is not. Rise\’s sister restaurant, Shine at the corner of Webster and Halsted in Lincoln Park will remain, so if you can\’t live without Rise Spicy Tuna Rolls, Shine is a great option with virtually the same menu. We wish the owners and staff of Rise the best of luck, and will miss this Southport staple immensely. 








The 2019 Southport Low-Line Farmer’s Market is Back

Everyone’ss favorite Low-Line Market on Southport will start on Thursday, June 6 and will run through October 10. 

From Lake View Patch:

“Local fruit, vegetables, flowers, meats and artisanal goods will be sold at the Southport CTA station this summer. Starting June 6, the Low-Line Market will be open from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays.
Hosted by the Friends of Lakeview, the market will feature eight farmers and more than a dozen vendors. The market will run until Oct. 10.”
“The Low-Line is a carefully curated market with the goal of creating an experience where neighbors can meet and gather while having greater access to a collection of high-quality produce, proteins, flowers and artisanal foods from local farms and vendors,” Friends of Lakeview said in a statement.
“By providing an increased availability of local food sources within walking distance of a high traffic, residential area, the Low-Line Market aims to contribute to an increase in sustainability within our community.”
