Trendy plant-shop The Sill is coming to 1351 W. Roscoe Street next to Fleet Feet. The Sill, founded in 2012 currently has shops in New York City on the Upper West Side, The Lower East Side, Brooklyn, Los Angeles and San Francisco.

One of the most popular online houseplant retailers, The Sill launched in 2012, so city-dwellers could enjoy the benefits of indoor houseplants. The company describes itself as “a modern plant destination for the modern plant lover.”

Southport Lanes may not be coming back after all (Update: It’s not)

In January, news outlets reported the spring return of Southport Lanes after closing in September, 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. We have reached out to Southport Lanes, as well as the commercial real estate sector and we are hearing that it is a slim chance that Southport Lanes will be coming back. The listing from Mid-America Commercial Real Estate has recently been updated as well this past month, which never is a good sign of a comeback.

Small business Alice & Wonder boutique is coming to 3542 N. Southport Avenue, former site of Basics Salon. This will be their second store in Chicago next to Lincoln Park, which is currently located at 956 W. Webster Avenue.  With close to 45K Instagram followers, there is no doubt this boutique will be a hit on the ‘Port.

Say hello to Lakeview Connection

A new development is currently being marketed at the corner of Belmont and Halsted called Lakeview Connection. This is currently the site of Fifth Third Bank’s drive through, and will include a smaller version of the branch, with several more retail spaces available.
