Sustainable fashion brand Reformation has officially opened a new location in Chicago’s Southport Corridor, continuing the wave of national retailers expanding into one of the city’s strongest neighborhood shopping districts. The new store opened at 3452 N. Southport Ave., taking over the former Dr. Martens storefront in the heart of Lakeview.
The Southport opening is one of two new Chicago stores launched by Reformation this week, alongside a second location in Fulton Market. The expansion adds to the company’s existing Chicago-area presence, which already includes stores in Streeterville and Oak Brook.
Known for its environmentally focused branding and trend-driven apparel, Reformation has become especially popular among Gen Z and millennial shoppers. The Southport location was designed with what the company describes as a more “multi-generational” shopping experience in mind, with an emphasis on occasion wear and elevated everyday fashion.
The store also introduces Reformation’s “Retail X” concept to the corridor. Instead of traditional inventory-heavy displays, only one sample of each item is shown on the floor. Customers use touchscreens or QR codes to request sizes and styles, which are then delivered directly to fitting rooms.
Reformation’s arrival further strengthens Southport Corridor’s growing reputation as one of Chicago’s premier retail destinations. The neighborhood has continued attracting major national brands alongside local boutiques, restaurants, and lifestyle retailers, reflecting strong foot traffic and demand in the Lakeview market.
The new store joins nearby retailers including Abercrombie & Fitch, Lululemon, Madewell, Sephora, and Gap as the corridor continues evolving into one of the city’s most active shopping streets outside of downtown.
