As we reported last year, proposed plans came out on a new TOD development replacing an abandoned building at 3347-49 N. Southport. As of March, 2020, the development had been approved according to Ald. Tom Tunney\’s website, and this week, construction fencing went up with demolition imminent. It is official – the opening date for Sephora Southport Corridor is October 23, 2020 according to their Instagram post. Sephora is also hiring for the new store, and you can see all the job listings here.
Sephora\’s new location is in the former space of Rise and Galleria Liquors at 3401 N. Southport Avenue.

Dine Out West Lakeview is back with Dine Out on Southport and Expanded Sidewalk Cafes organized with support from SSA 27. For Dine Out on Southport, we’ll close Southport Ave from Waveland to Grace on Fridays – Sundays from Sept 4-6 & Sept 11-13 with the hopes of extending through the end of September.

Basics Salon closed in 2019 and a new development is currently under construction. Recently a Lease Brochure appeared for DavidsTEA\’s former space and indicates that SusieCakes Bakery will be the retail tenant. Most locations are currently in California and Texas, SusieCakes’ founder, Susan Sarich, grew up in Chicago, where she was called Susie by her two beloved grandmothers, Mildred and Madeline.
DavidsTEA left the Southport Corridor during the COVID-19 lockdown and the space is now for lease. At one time a Jewelry store and women’s boutique was in this space, so now, what would you like to see in this space?

Southport Lanes is for lease according to this listing from Mid-America Commercial Real Estate. The bar and bowling ally has been closed since the Covid-19 shutdown since mid-March, 2020 and has not reopened since Phase 3 began.
“We are planning to re-open next weekend. We will decide on Monday. We are trying to get staff members to commit to working which is not an easy task.”
