UPDATE: Cancelled Due To Covid-19 – Upscale Bakery Susie Cakes coming to 3542 N Southport Avenue
Basics Salon closed in 2019 and a new development is currently under construction. Recently a Lease Brochure appeared for DavidsTEA\’s former space and indicates that SusieCakes Bakery will be the retail tenant. Most locations are currently in California and Texas, SusieCakes’ founder, Susan Sarich, grew up in Chicago, where she was called Susie by her two beloved grandmothers, Mildred and Madeline.

Southport Lanes is for lease according to this listing from Mid-America Commercial Real Estate. The bar and bowling ally has been closed since the Covid-19 shutdown since mid-March, 2020 and has not reopened since Phase 3 began.
“We are planning to re-open next weekend. We will decide on Monday. We are trying to get staff members to commit to working which is not an easy task.”

Spaderma coming to 3200 N. Southport Avenue
The transit-oriented development (TOD) at 3200 N. Southport now has its first retail tenant signed, spaderma. According to spaderma\’s website, it specializes in advanced skincare, cosmetic injections, laser hair removal and lip filler. The medical skin care and laser institute currently has locations in Lincoln Park, the West Loop and the North Shore. Spaderma will take the south east portion of the retail area and the second retail area is still TBD.

3401 N. Southport is officially under construction
After years of planning in the works, the buildings that formerly housed Rise Sushi and Galleria Liquors have been torn down, and construction has begun on 3401 N. Southport – a Transit Oriented Development. Galleria is scheduled to take one of the retail spots, and rumors are swirling around the ‘Port on the second option. That’s Amore Florist Owner to Retire, Business Looking to be Sold
After 26 years on Southport, the owners of That’s Amore Florist are retiring and the business / storefront is for sale. The “Business For Sale” sign went up this week, and is yet another small business up for sale and could potentially leave the Southport Corridor. That’s Amore Florist is located at 3454 N. Southport Avenue, next to Krista K.
Taco Bell Cantina Coming Back to Wrigleyville (Yes, same location)
Update: Now Confirmed.
After years of preparing for Taco Bell at 1111 W. Addison to close and be demolished for a new development, Taco Bell Cantina – the one that serves booze, is now rumored to be returning to the ground level along with Chase Bank (both are in lease negotiations at this time). The original restaurant was torn down this week, and development will soon begin for a 4-story complex including a proposed climbing gym on the upper floors (Chase and Taco Bell and another retail space would occupy the ground level). As we hear more we will be sure to let you know. Live Mas!
Taco Bell’s Replacement on Addison includes Planet Granite Climbing Gym
Here are the latest renderings of what will be replacing Wrigleyville’s Taco Bell at 1111 W. Addison Street. The first level will include street retail to be determined, and according to Tom Tunney’s website and renderings, Planet Granite Climbing Gym based in California will occupy the 2nd and 3rd floors.
